AATMA - The Ayurvedic Centre, Thrissur, Kerala, India
Charaka says of all the treatments in Ayurveda Basti comprises the main component. By cleansing the colon and then applying herbal medicines there that nourish and heal the colon and improve its absorptive power we nourish the entire body. Charaka gives the analogy of nourishing a tree by its roots to get good flower, leaves and fruit.

We have visited the Ayurveda Sanctuary 2014-15 and the treatment given is body massage, nasyam and sirodhara with south Indian food served during breakfast, lunch and dinner. The place is quiet and away from Udupi town. They used to be near beach but now changed to some interior village after udupi town. Unfortunately, our experience is NOT at all good. The food served in the night was the same as served in the lunch ( side dishes) and sometimes we felt food was even spoiled. The pathetic experience is with the night bugs in the room. The oil used for sirothara is being reused, hence please expect the hair problems of our patients passed on to you through the used oil. The owners never took care of the hygiene and bugs issue in the rooms. The price charged was too much for the services they had provided to us. The treatment therapists are local people with out any professional training that they claim on the website. The owners brag too much on their past experience and visits to other countries, while the treatment provided in the center is substantially below the standards. We strongly recommend NOT to visit this center unless you wish to face the problems I mentioned above.

Hope this review is helpful. Please find better Ayurveda retreat from Kerala or Coorg with latest reviews and higher rating by many users.

Apprehension........ !Anxiety.........! Travel stress.......!This was my state of mind upon disembarking at Udupi on Saturday 3rd Aug 2013 at 9am after gruel some overnight sleeper bus/road journey from Bangalore the previous night

Howewer the balming effet was immediate upon stepping down from the bus at Udupi. There to greet me was the reassuring presence of Dr Sreedhar Rao and his assistant-both equally mild mannered and thoughtful about all details
The mornings of both my 2 weeks at the sanctuary was filled with discussions demonstrations and guided practice of yoga and pranayamas conducted by Dr Sreedhar Rao personally
Ayurvedic massages and related treatments as prescribed by Dr Nayana were carried out both mornings and afternoons
For ther sanctuary the well trained and courteous massage therapist was a hand.Treatment included diet eating healthy food in moderation!
Evenings were filled with outings to scenic spots and local points of interest
I found the sanctuary at its ambience more like a home.Even my onward travel arrangements were organised by the sanctuary. The two weeks were a period of both physical and spiritual rejuvenation

I experienced 14 days of genuine Ayurvedic treatments in this quiet place. The room was spacious with excellent facilities. The staff was very kind and the Ayurvedic treatments were very good. I appreciate the service and felt cared for. I enjoyed the vegetarian food based on Ayurvedic principles with the doctors. I felt felt almost as new after completing the program.
