ABOUT THIS COLLEGE:
Dayanand Ayurvedic College & Hospital is the first institution on the globe, which started the teaching of Ayurveda in an institutional way 103 years back in 1898. It is joined with Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. It produces experts in the field of Ayurvedic system of medicine, to help ailing humanity through native wisdom in health and medicine.
The college offers Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.). Curriculum of B.A.M.S. course consists of studies of human Anatomy, physiology, metaphysics, detailed information about plants, minerals and animal products as medicine, preparation of various herb mineral formulations, diagnosis of pathological state of body called disease, and their management and treatment. Various branches of studies consist of Medicine, Surgery, Eye, E.N.T., Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Paediatrics and Panchkarma.
Other Training Programs - Kshar Sutra Training Programme, RCH Training Programme which was funded by Govt. of India and Regular Panchkarma Training Programme for one month is also being organized.
The students should qualify by 10 & +2 (Science) with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The candidates against NRI seats in the colleges will be admitted on the basis of merit determined on the basis of marks obtained in Physics, chemistry and Biology (PCB) in the qualifying examination.
The charge for the B.A.M.S. course is Rs.35000 (for Government quota & management quota seats) & the charge for NRI students is US $ 15,000 and Rs.12500 for panchakarma training 1 month course.
The duration for B.A.M.S course is 51/2 years – 1st professional 18 months, 2nd professional 18 months, 3rd professional 18 months and internship one year.
The college has a girl’s hostel with a capacity of 125 girl students. It is good and safe dwelling place for residents having nice lawns.
We also provide the food to the students who are staying in the hostel.
The college has the following facilities are – Dissection hall, Physiology lab, Pathology lab, Dravyagun museum and herbal garden and Operation theatre. The library has a huge collection of about 9,587 books on Ayurveda and modern medicines.
At present the college has 150 bedded hospital that imparts training to the students as well as serves the ailing humanity. The college is running regular OPD's in the hands of specialists. This is the only hospital all over Punjab in which Ayurvedic multi specialty clinics are running. Patients with various chronic diseases are regularly visiting the OPD's & are being cured successfully. Facilities for minor OPD procedures are also available.
The hospital, handled by specialists, has following OPDs – Kayachikitsa, Shalya Tantra, Stri Rog & Prasuti Tantra, Kaumarbhritya, Shalakya Tantra, Panchkarma, Swasthwrit (including yoga). 6 evening specialty clinics have been working in the hospital, viz - Diabetes clinic, Epilepsy clinic, Arthritis clinic, Prostate clinic, Heart disease clinic, Stones clinic.
The hospital is providing Indoor Services for poor & patients with chronic diseases. Every OPD has been allotted its IPD like -IPD for Kaya Chikitsa, IPD for panchkarma, IPD for Shalya, IPD for Shalakya, IPD for Stri Rog & Prasooti Tantra, IPD for Kaumarbhritya, and IPD for Swasthwrita (Including Yoga).
The hospital is having up-to-date lab with all diagnostic aids. Facilities for Routine blood, urine & stool examination are provided. The hospital is fully equipped with all modern facilities e.g. Ultra Sonography (USG) and the hospital is having labor room facility with full arrangements to handle delivery cases.
