LOCATION:

The Govt. Autonomous Dhanwantari Ayurvedic College is located at Ujjian in the Madhya Pradesh. It is a heartland of India and it is also called as the Awantika / Kanakashringa / Ujjaiyani etc. It is a holy place and it’s the land famous for the Lord Mahakaleshwar. The college is situated at Mangalnath road about 5 Km away from the Railway station and Bus stand (Dewas gate).

ABOUT THIS COLLEGE:

The Govt. Dhanwantri Ayurveda College & Hospital was established by Private Trust Shri Dhnwantari Ayurveda Chiktsa Mahavidhylaya Evam Sodha Kendra Nyas Ujjaiyani on 15th Aug. 1969. The College is affiliated to the Vikram University, Ujjain and follows the syllabus and curriculum prescribed by the Central Council of Indian Medicine New Delhi statutory regulatory body for Indian Systems of Medicine. The Institute imparts Post-Graduate (MD Ayurveda), Under-Graduate (BAMS), teaching and training and coming up facilities for Ph.D. very soon.

GOAL OF THIS COLLEGE:

The aim of this College was take over by Govt Of M.P. on 1st Dec. 1972 is -  To produce competent graduates of Ayurveda, to produce eminent Post-graduates of Ayurveda in various specialties, to produce efficient Ayurveda compounders & nurses, to provide medical aids  through Ayurvedic system of medicine - through - Panchkarma., Ksharsutra., Herbal Medicine, Herbomineral Medicine, Yogic Science, Ayurvedic Measures of internal medicine, Surgery E.N.T. & Ophthalmology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics and other Specialties of Indian system of medicine. It is to promote for Research and development of Ayurveda and to provide and assist in providing medical services and facilities of highest order for research, evaluation, training, consultation and guidance for Ayurvedic System of Medicine.

COURSE OFFERED:

Under-Graduate Course of B.A.M.S (Ay):

It offers the Under-graduate Course, Ayurvedacharya (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. The annual admission capacity to BAMS is 40 and reservation as per M.P. Govt. rules for all categories. The Under Graduate course is imparted in the following Subjects through the 13 Departments having the required facilities and staff, during the one year rotatory Internship, the interns are paid Rs. 1844/- per month as stipends as per the rates of state Govt.

Post-Graduate Course of MD ( Ay.):

The PG Course, or Ayurved Vachaspati MD (Ayurved at present the Institute is imparting the Post-graduate course in the following three specialties. And start soon in three specialties. The annual admission capacity is nine.  Admission is made on conducting an all India Entrance Test, which is exam conduct by college mostly in the month of July. The PG scholars are Received Stipend at the rates of M.P. Govt. Rules. Presently the consolidated emoluments are of Rs.11400/-(1st Year), Rs.11795/-(2nd Year) and Rs.2204/-(Final Year).

Ayurveda compounder one Year Certificate course:

The annual admission capacity to Ayurveda Compounder 50 and reservation as per M.P. Govt. rules for all categories. 15 Extra seats are also available for the S.T. Students. The Total Annual admission Capacity is 65 Seats. Admission Notification is conducting by College mostly in the month of July as per rule of M.P. Paramedical Council of Bhopal.

DURATION:

B.A.M.S. - is of 5½ years duration (4½ years of the main course and 1 year internship).  The main course is divided into 3 Professional Courses of 1½ years duration each

MD (Ay.) - is 3 years duration divided into two Parts.

Ayurveda Compounder - The Regular main course is of one year's duration.

ELIGIBILITY:

B.A.M.S. - The admission qualification prescribed by the Vikram University of Ujjain is Senior Higher IInd Classary examination in Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) or any other examination recognized by the University as equivalent thereto. The students admitted from Science-Biology stream in the main course.

Ayurveda Compounder - The admission qualification is as prescribed by the M.P.Paramedical Council Bhopal is Senior Higher IInd Classary examination in any stream or any other examination recognized by the M.P. Paramedical Council Bhopal as equivalent thereto.

ACCOMMODATION:

There are 2 Hostels with a total capacity of 60 seats providing residential accommodation to the students in the campus. One is situated in the College premises and other one Hostel is providing facilities to girls at Indira Nagar Colony Ujjain. (Boys hostel – capacity: 40 and Girls hostel – capacity: 20).The Hostels are providing with Kitchen facilities, TV and phones facilities with play ground. Wardens monitor the Hostels.

OTHER FACILITIES:

This college has the latest Teaching equipments like, OHP, Slide Projector, LCD Projector, Scanners, Seminar Hall, Audio-Visuals Library, and herbal garden. The College Library presently has about 6500 Books and bounded volumes of Journals. Newspapers and Journals are subscribed for the benefit of students, research scholars and teachers. There is a provision for Book Bank with collection of books for the benefit of poor, meritorious and needy students. The Library has a separate collection of post-graduate theses submitted by post-graduate students of the Institute. Indexing of articles published in various important.

The Institute has an Audio and Video Library with Photo Copier, T.V., V.C.R. and a good collection of Video Medical Cassettes of varied subjects. Facilities of Xerox etc. are also provided to scholars, students and teachers. The College has a Pharmacy manufacturing various types of medicines to meet the partial requirements of indoor and outdoor hospitals as well as for research purposes. The Pharmacy is attached to the Department of Rasa Shastra and is involved in practical teaching and training to the UG students and PG scholars in order to make them aware to the knowledge of preparation of Ayurvedic medicines the Pharmacy also prepares special (Research Drugs) medicines required for research purposes of PG scholars. There is very rich Herbals Garden with 173 plants.
