Smt. Urmila Devi Ayurvedic College of Medical Sciences & Hospital is definitely proud to be in"The city of Saints", Hoshiarpur and is on the foothills of Shivaliks Range of Kandi Area.
ABOUT THIS COLLEGE:
This College is recognized by "Central Council of India Medicine, New Delhi" vide letter NoF NO.-4-70/2005-Ay/856 .Date 22.11.2005 and affiliated to "Baba Farid University, Faridkot." Vide letter no. BFUHS/2K6/College3/10896 Dated 14/07/2006. The Punjab government has recognized the college vide letter No. 22-4-2000-HBV/13940 Dt. 19-6-2001.
COURSE OFFERED:
The college offers the course - B.A.M.S. - Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (Ayurvedacharya).
ELIGIBILITY:
Candidate must have passed in the subject of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in 10+2 examination. In respect of the candidate belonging to schedule caste, schedule tribe or other backward class the arks, obtained Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in the qualifying examination to pass marks instead of 40% as stated above.
For NRI seats - They are not required to sit in entrance test. However they should have passed such qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and should have obtain at least 40% (May be Change As per University rule) marks.
DURATION:
5 & 1/2 years.

OTHER FACILITIES:
The college management has set 200 bedded hospital facilities that impart training to the student as well as serves the ailing humanity; it has also its own Ambulance and the hospital has following regular O.P.D.'s – Kayachikatsa, Shalya Tantra, Stri Rog & Prasuti Tantra, Kaumarbhritya, Shalakya Tantra, Panchkarma, Manas Rog, Nidan and Swasthyarakshan (including Yoga).
The hospital also provides the patients with most modern computerized laboratory with analyzer doing all clinical and pathology test at a much discounted rates. X-Ray and E.C.G. facilitites are also available. Well maintained, equipped with modern techniques and latest instrument operation theatre is present with highly qualified surgeons. The hospital has also introduced Panchkarma (Kerala pattern). Panchkarma unit running along with hospital giving aids to the patients in a novel ayurvedic methods like Shirovasti, Uttarvasti, Bhamanvasti. Snehan Shwedan etc.
The college has well maintained library with books of world class authors of Ayurveda, Physiotherapy, B.Sc. Nursing, modern medicine and other books related to medical science. The library has been setup keeping in view for the importance of it in a student & staff day to day life. Books are in abundance along with regular subscription of daily newspapers, journals, magazines for college students and staff.
The college has Audio-visual aids - The College provides the class room equipped with most modern techniques, computer aided studies, projector, colour T.V., Video cassette player, and Video Compact Disc player so as to make the things interesting and practical for students. This is the whole new criteria of the management to improve the standard of studies with high-tech methods. Dissection hall - Sharir Rachna (Anatomy) is the department where students dissect the cadavers (dead bodies) to gain knowledge. For this big dissection hall and an attached preservation room is also available.
Anatomy museum - Museum for the department of Sharir Rachna (Anatomy) has been developed with original specimens, models, photographs and a good number of charts add up to give a excellent gateway of knowledge. Dravyaguna museum & herbal garden - The department of dravyaguna has a large number museum where samples of various dry herbal drugs have been displayed for their proper identification with herbarium. A herbal garden spread in 4 acres of land, having medicinal plants 3160 & 324 species to meet and fulfill all requirement of the pharmacy on a commercial level also.
Physiology laboratory - Fully furnished computerized labs with modern equipments such as Analyzer - Digital Colorimeter, Centrifugal Machine etc. for doing all clinical and pathology tests. Pathology laboratory - The department of pathology lab which not only provides facilities for training students but also serves the attached hospital through all kinds of hematological, biochemical, Urine, Stool and sputum investigation. All the tests are performed with latest techniques.
Department of hygine - The department of Hygiene & Yoga is very important for medical education & yoga is one of the mot popular topics of the day. Ayurveda yoga has a very important place. The scope of yoga has become very wide spread because of the fact that people of the different walks of life appear to have been taking interest in yoga from different angles. Medical jurisprudence & toxicology department - Various poisonous drugs and a number of models and charts concerning medical jurisprudence have been displayed in this museum under the department of Agadtantra dn Vyavaharaurved.
Ras shastra museum - In this museum under the department of Ras Shastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana various raw drugs of mineral and animal origin as well as their formulations have been exhibited. Students learn Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical procedures in this deptt. Pharmacy - Smt. Urmila Devi Ayurvedic College of Medical Sciences & Hospital has its own pharmacy in which students prepare their own medicines under the guidance of expert post graduate staff. Very soon the pharmacy will produce its own Ayurvedic medicine and will float it in the market.
Canteen - There is a special canteen in the college campus to meet the requirement of students, staff members and hospital patients. The material prepared is checked everyday to maintain hygiene. Operation theatre - A well equipped operation theatre with most modern techniques and latest instruments with highly experienced surgeons is ready for the department of shalya tantra, shalakya tantra and obstetric. Transport - Transport facility is also available for the students & staff for daily use and to organize camps, going out for competition, Picnic etc.
