LOCATION:
The Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico is already recognized as one of the leading Ayurvedic centers in the United States. It is located at 11311 Menaul NE, just East of Juan Tabo Ave. These are major cross streets and are known to all taxi and shuttle drivers. Albuquerque’s climate is typical of a high altitude desert. It is very dry and often windy.

ABOUT THIS CENTRE:
The Ayurvedic Institute, recognized as a leading Ayurvedic school and Ayurveda health spa outside of India, was established in 1984 to teach the traditional Ayurvedic medicine of India and to provide these ancient therapies. Ayurvedic healing includes herbs, nutrition, panchakarma cleansing, acupressure massage, Yoga, Sanskrit, and Jyotish (Vedicastrology).

The ayurvedic treatments offered by this centre are based on your prakruti/vikruti Typically, this includes.Abhyanga, Swedana, Shirodhara, Udhulana. And herbal enema, herbal purgation, vamana.
DOCTORS:
Dr. Vasant Lad, M.A.Sc., Ayurvedic Physician and Executive Director he served for three years as Medical Director of the Ayurveda Hospital in Pune, India. Beginning in 1979, he has traveled throughout the United States sharing his knowledge of Ayurveda. In 1984 he came to Albuquerque as Director, principal instructor and founder of the Ayurvedic Institute. Vasant Lad is the author of numerous books and respected throughout the world for his knowledge of Ayurveda.
FOOD:
During your panchakarma, you will be provided with a special diet of kitchari (a rice and mung dal dish) and special herbal teas. The kitchari mono-diet has a de-toxifying action and is nutritious and easy to digest. Kitchari is provided before and after your PK program, you will be responsible for providing your own food. We have recipes for kitchari and ghee available in this booklet. It is best to avoid cold drinks, cold food, dairy, caffeine and refined sugar before, during and after PK.
