ABOUT THIS CENTRE:
The inpatient department of the nursing home started functioning in 1978, initially with six rooms. This was gradually expanded 18 spacious rooms equipped with facilities for treatment, bathing and cooking. To accommodate more patients five special rooms have been rented from the Trust. Specially trained attendants take care of the nursing part. One relative or attendant is allowed to stay with the patient. All types of treatments including Panchakarma are done here in the traditional style.
TREATMENTS:
The Clinical Treatments in Ayurveda serve an important role in curing diseases especially of the chronic type. The treatments are generally divided into two: SHODHANA (removal of adversely affected. doshas) & SHAMANA (curative). Panchashodhanakarma or Panchakarma is the most prominent one in the former group.
These preliminary treatments are called Snehasweda. Pizhichil or Thailadhara and Navarakizhi are the two major treatments in snehasweda. Snehapanam is another type in this group. At the same time snehapanam is done as Shamanachikilsa too in which after snehapanam, Virechana or Vamana are done after swedam as otherwise the cleansed doshas will dissolve into the dhathu (the basic elements).
Medication, generally are for cure (Shamana). Kashaya, Choorna, tablet etc are curative. Thakradhara and Thalapothichil are included in the shamana group.
DOCTORS:
Vaidyamadham is one of the famous Ashtavaidya groups of families in Kerala. They are the only one family belonging to the Bharadwajeeya group. Many of the members of this family were the official physicians for some of the reigning families of Kerala. In the current times also, members of the state and central government, political leaders, famous personalities from every walk of life are in touch with this family either for consultation or treatment.
Ashtavaidyan Vaidyamadham Cheriya Narayanan Namboodiri, the present chief physician of this institution is the most popular Ashtavaidyan now. He expanded Vaidyasala & Nursing Home to its present form and style.
Cheriya Narayanan Namboodiri can diagnose most of the ailments at first sight of the patient. He is sharp in timing the treatment and his decisions are not generally disputed. Though he treats all types of diseases with a great deal of success, treatment of Arthritis is considered as his specialty. He initiated research on cancer. He has devised two kinds of tablets to treat cancer. In a small scale, he has cultivated a botanical garden of rare herbs and plants.
ACCOMMODATION:
We provide all rooms are self contained (European Closets) and provided with 2 cots, beds, bed spreads, table, chair etc.
PRICE RANKING:
For 25 days' stay as inpatient the cost will approximately be Rs.25.000 which does not include the cost of food & the room rent will vary between 175.00 and 250.00.
